Bhagtal is a village in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It is also written Bhagthal, Bhagthalo, Bhagthāl or Bhagthālo, and every spelling points to the same home. Talagang lies about 21 km away, Lawa about 29 km, and the Kallar Kahar lake and the Kallar Kahar interchange on the M2 motorway are each about 45 km away in a straight line.
The village sits on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range rising to the south. As in many homes across this part of Punjab, families here have members serving in the army or working abroad, so the village is remembered by those who have left it as much as by those who stay.
