This is Chak Umra.

Chak Umra is a village and union council in Chakwal District, Punjab, Pakistan, and part of Chakwal Tehsil. It is a chak, a settlement from the canal era, set on the dry, ravined land of the Potohar plateau, with the Salt Range to the south. Dhudial is 4 km away, Chakwal city 12 km, and the Katas Raj temples and Choa Saidan Shah are each about 31 km.

The land is rain-fed, and the fields grow wheat and groundnut (peanuts), along with a range of vegetables. The village has a Girls' High School, a Maktab Primary School and a Primary School for boys. The union council also includes Mian Mair, Farid Kassar, Dhoke Hajian Nadral and Dhoke Wadan.

As across much of the Potohar, many families here have members serving in the army or working abroad. The fuller story of Chak Umra, its families and its people is still to be told by those who live it, and this page is an invitation to tell it.
