Dandot RS, also known as Shireen Abad, is a village in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It lies in the foothills of the Salt Range, on the dry, ravined Potohar plateau, where the main crops are wheat and groundnut, grown on rain-fed land. Many families here have members serving in the army or working abroad.
The name "Kaala Teeashun" (Dark Station) recalls the first railway station set up here by the British Raj in the early 1930s to extract coal and gypsum. Because gypsum, a key raw material for cement, was plentiful, a cement plant followed, and workers and their families came to the area. The Dandot cement plant was installed in 1982 by the State Cement Corporation of Pakistan.
The Khewra Salt Mine is about 3 km away, and the Malot temple, Katas Raj temples and Choa Saidan Shah lie 6 to 9 km away. The village's own full story is still to be told by its people.
اس گاؤں کا نام "کالا ٹیشن" انگریز دور کے اس پہلے ریلوے اسٹیشن کی یاد دلاتا ہے جو تیس کی دہائی کے اوائل میں کوئلے اور جپسم کے لیے بنایا گیا تھا۔ یہاں جپسم کی فراوانی نے سیمنٹ فیکٹری کی بنیاد رکھی اور کارکن اور ان کے خاندان یہاں آ بسے۔ ڈنڈوت سیمنٹ پلانٹ 1982 میں اسٹیٹ سیمنٹ کارپوریشن آف پاکستان نے نصب کیا۔ گاؤں کی اپنی مکمل کہانی ابھی اس کے لوگوں نے سنانی ہے۔
