This is Dhok Kala.
Dhok Kala is a dhok, a farmstead hamlet in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. Like many settlements of its kind, it lies on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields where families grow wheat and groundnut. The Salt Range rises to the south.
The village is about 20 km from Kallar Kahar lake and the Kallar Kahar interchange on the M2 motorway, 26 km from Dandot in the Salt Range, and 27 km from the Katas Raj temples. Across this region, many families have members serving in the army or working abroad.
The fuller story of Dhok Kala, its families and its days, is still to be told by the people who live here and by those who carry it with them overseas.
