Gidranwali, also written Ali Shah Gidranwali, is a village in District Chakwal in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It lies on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range rising to its south.
Farmers across the Potohar grow wheat and groundnut, relying on the rains. The village is about 22 km in a straight line from Dandot in the Salt Range, 23 km from the Malot temple, 24 km from Choa Saidan Shah, and 27 km from the Katas Raj temples.
Many families on this plateau have members serving in the army or working abroad. The full story of Gidranwali, its families and its people is still to be told by those who know it best, and this page is an open invitation to do so.
