It lies on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields where wheat and groundnut are grown, with the Salt Range to the south. Lawa is about 25 km away, Talagang 37 km, the Kallar Kahar interchange on the M2 motorway 48 km, and the Kallar Kahar lake 49 km, all in straight-line distance.
