This is Mohra Sheikh.
Mohra Sheikh is a small hamlet, also spelt Mohra Sheikhan, in District Chakwal of Punjab, Pakistan. It is a mohra, the name for a small settlement, and many of its families have a story of distance and return.
The land around it is the Potohar plateau: dry, ravined country where farmers grow wheat and groundnut on rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range to the south. Many families here have members in the army or working abroad.
By straight line, Dhudial is about 33 km away, Chakwal city 43 km, Choa Saidan Shah 52 km and the Katas Raj temples 53 km. The fuller story of Mohra Sheikh, its people and its days, is still to be told by the villagers themselves.
