This is Mohra Thaneel.
Mohra Thaneel is a small hamlet in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It sits on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range to its south. Chakwal city is about 6 km away in a straight line, Dhudial about 14 km, and both the Kallar Kahar lake and the Kallar Kahar interchange on the M2 motorway about 17 km.
Across this plateau, the land is worked for wheat and groundnut, grown on rain and patience. Many families in the Potohar have members serving in the army or working abroad.
The full story of Mohra Thaneel, its families and its days is still to be told. We invite the people of this hamlet, wherever they live today, to tell it in their own words.
