Chhoind (also spelt Chhawind) is a village in District Chakwal, in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It lies on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range rising to its south.
Several well-known places are within reach. Dandot in the Salt Range is about 32 km away in a straight line, the Malot temple 34 km, Choa Saidan Shah 35 km, and the Katas Raj temples 38 km.
Farming across this plateau depends on rain, and families grow wheat and groundnut. Many families across the plateau have members serving in the army or working abroad. The full story of Chhoind, its people and its past is still to be told by the villagers themselves, and this page is an invitation to do so.
