Shamhari, also written Shumari or Shumāri, is a village in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It lies in the dry, ravined country of the Potohar plateau, with the Salt Range to the south. Life here has long depended on rain-fed farming of wheat and groundnut, and many families have members serving in the army or working abroad.
Within about 31 to 38 kilometres in a straight line are Dandot in the Salt Range, the Malot temple, Choa Saidan Shah and the Katas Raj temples. The village's own story, its people and its memories, is still to be told by those who know it best. We invite you to add it here.
