Hatar, also spelt Hattar, is a village in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It lies on the Potohar plateau, a dry land of ravines and rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range to its south. In a straight line, the village is about 11 km from the Kallar Kahar interchange on the M2 motorway, 12 km from Kallar Kahar lake, 20 km from Talagang and 24 km from Chakwal city.
Across the plateau, families farm wheat and groundnut on rain-fed land, and many have members serving in the army or working abroad. The wider region is shaped by that work and by the people who return to it.
