This is Karyala.

Karyala is a village and union council in Chakwal District, Punjab, Pakistan, part of Chakwal Tehsil. The village sits atop the Surla hills, in a part of the country known as Dhani, meaning rich. It lies about 11 km from Chakwal city, and the Katas Raj temple complex is about 15 km away.

Life here follows the rhythm of the Potohar plateau: dry, ravined land, rain-fed fields of wheat and groundnut, and the Salt Range to the south. Many families have members serving in the army or working abroad, and the village stays close to them across every distance.

Nearby, the Khewra Salt Mines, among the oldest in the world, and the coal mines of Dandot are only a few kilometres away. The Katas Lake, linked in legend to the Mahabharata, holds its own old story. The full story of Karyala, in the words of its own people, is still to be told.
