Sarla is a village in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It lies on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range to the south. Chakwal city is about 15 km away. The Kallar Kahar lake and the Kallar Kahar interchange on the M2 motorway are each about 12 km away, and the Katas Raj temples are about 15 km away, all in straight-line distance.
Across this plateau, many families have members serving in the army or working abroad, and that tradition of looking far beyond the village is part of its everyday life.
