Dhok Shera is a small farmstead hamlet in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It sits on the Potohar plateau, where the land is dry and cut by ravines and farming depends on rain. Its fields are part of a landscape of wheat and groundnut, with the Salt Range rising to the south.
The hamlet lies about 14 km in a straight line from Kallar Kahar lake and from the Kallar Kahar interchange on the M2 motorway. Talagang is 25 km away and Chakwal city is 35 km.
Across the Potohar, many families have members in the army or working abroad. The fuller story of Dhok Shera, its people and its days, is still to be told by the people who live here and by those who have gone away.
