This is Dhok Tumhal.
Dhok Tumhal is a dhok, a small farmstead hamlet in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It is also spelt Dhok Budhal, Dhok Kahal or Dhok Kahāl in different records. It lies on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range rising to the south.
By straight line, Dhudial is about 30 km away, Chakwal city 36 km, Islamabad airport 38 km and Rawalpindi 40 km. As in many households across the Potohar, families here have members serving in the army or working abroad, and those who have left carry this place with them.
The fuller story of Dhok Tumhal, its families, its fields and its memories, is still to be told, and it is for its own people to tell it.
